As I partially lived in Kaprun several months in 2018-2019 and I had access to the summer card I visited almost everything included on the services of the card.
Just because I am a curious person and to discover new places on my self fascinated me always.
That summer card is a card for tourists only. It is an unfair and strange thing that the inhabitants, the locals get no chance to buy this card so that they can know and visit and enjoy their own home region!
Low Austria does offer such a card for everyone, doesn't matter if you are a tourist or a local. You get the chance to pay something under 100 Euro and to visit - free of charge or with a discount of 3-4 Euros - one year long every single sightseeing included. It is a great service and you can register on-line, the card will be sent by post!
Zell am See-Kaprun, one of the most famous places in Salzburger Land, does not offer this respect to its inhabitants. The card cannot be purchased. It can be obtained only in two cases:
1. You are tourist here and have accommodation in a hotel, pension that is partner of the local Zell am See-Kaprun Touristic Organisation and you get the card free of charge (being included in the accommodation price while the hotel itself is paying some fees per day per issued card to the organisation)
2. You are the hotel owner or you work for one of them. Then you pay about 125 Euro for the card that is valid from June to Mid of October.
Without the card it is financially not possible, especially for families, to use the lifts on the mountains, to visit the gorges, museums etc. etc. Starting summer 2019 the card includes all the public transportation inside Pinzgau County!!!
